The Firm favorably resolved our client’s claims for a confidential amount in Cause No. 2014-05536; Juventino Marroquin v. Richardson Stevedoring and Logistics Services, Inc., Richway Transportation Services, Inc. and Ramon Bertrand Carroll; In the 113th Judicial District Court of Harris County, Texas.
The case arose out of a two-vehicle accident that occurred between two 18-wheelers at the Port of Houston. Liability was hotly contested and involved competing accident reconstructionists. The Port of Houston police officer, after viewing a videotape of the incident, cited our client for driving at an excessive speed, which he attributed to be the sole cause of the accident. The Firm filed a motion to exclude the officer’s testimony, contending that the officer was not qualified as an accident reconstructionist to opine as to the cause of the accident and that his opinions were otherwise unreliable and therefore inadmissible. The case settled on terms favorable to our client for a confidential sum while the motion to exclude was pending before the trial court.
